Issue d’une grande famille de musiciens sur l’île de la réunion, Nirina Rakotomavo a toujours été bercée par divers styles musicaux depuis sa tendre enfance, ce qui lui a permis de faire grandir en elle une palette culturelle riche et variée.
Étant auteure, compositrice, arrangeuse, pianiste et chanteuse, elle a développé une sonorité propre et un langage singulier.
Passionnée de composition, elle s’inspire des plumes de Pat Metheny, Michel Legrand ou encore Bobby Mcferrin, son approche de l’arrangement tend à sublimer l’écriture de mélodies chantantes soulignées de couleurs tirées du Jazz où la rythmique et le groove sont fondamentaux.
En parallèle à son statut de créatrice et de compositrice elle accompagne également divers artistes sur scène en tant que claviériste et choriste, tels que Benjamin Siksou, André-Philippe Gagnon ou encore la chanteuse Jenifer.
En 2019, elle auto-produit entièrement le premier album de Selkies
« Incantation » ou elle signe la composition, l’arrangement et quelques textes.
En avril 2025 elle dévoile son tout nouvel album “PARIS RÉUNION” une autobiographie en musique, enregistré au studio QUAISON où elle nous raconte ses nouvelles compositions, accompagnée de batterie, basse, guitare et choristes.
Coming from a large family of musicians on the island of Reunion, Nirina Rakotomavo has always been rocked by various musical styles since her early childhood, which allowed her to grow in her a rich and varied cultural palette. Being an author, composer, arranger, pianist and singer, she has developed her own sound and a singular language.
She began the classical piano at the age of 7 with a private teacher, then continued her learning at the regional conservatory until the age of 17.
She then flew to Paris and studied at the American School of Modern Music as well as at the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Conservatory to deepen her knowledge of jazz and contemporary music.
Passionate about composition, her style is inspired by the feathers of Pat Metheny, Michel Legrand or Bobby Mcferrin, his approach to arrangement tends to sublimate the writing of singable melodies underlined with colors drawn from Jazz, where rhythm and groove are fundamental.
