Dire que Thomas Curbillon a biberonné au son du trio guitare-orgue-batterie est un euphémisme tant les disques de René Thomas avec Eddy Louiss, Kenny Burrell avec Jimmy Smith ou plus récemment Peter Bernstein avec Larry Goldings, tournaient en boucle sur la platine de son père.
Comme à la maison donc et une formation idéale pour le guitariste et chanteur qui revisite avec ce nouveau trio, des compositions de son premier disque « Place Ste Opportune » mais aussi des compositions instrumentales et de toutes nouvelles chansons d’un disque à venir.
Avec lui deux musiciens lumineux et indispensables de la scène jazz parisienne : l’organiste Guillaume Naud et le batteur Vincent Frade qui font des merveilles de groove, de joyeux swing, et de poésie.
To say that Thomas Curbillon nursed on the sound of the guitar-organ-drums trio would be an understatement, as records by René Thomas with Eddy Louiss, Kenny Burrell with Jimmy Smith or, more recently, Peter Bernstein with Larry Goldings, were played over and over again on his father’s turntable.
So it’s like being at home, and an ideal formation for the guitarist and singer who, with this new trio, revisits compositions from his first album, “Place Ste Opportune”, as well as instrumental compositions and brand-new songs from a forthcoming album.
Joining him are two luminous and indispensable musicians on the Paris jazz scene: organist Guillaume Naud and drummer Vincent Frade, who work wonders with their groove, joyful swing and poetry.
